- Abstract
- This project tested the author's belief that members of an 'interim' congregation could find connections with scripture that would renew their understanding of their mission as a congregation, and that they could be 'yeast' to renew the congregation's calling as people of God. The project took place at the First Congregational Church, Wallingford, Connecticut, in nine sessions over six months. Sessions guided participants through Pauline texts while considering the 'overlap' of scripture with congregational life today. Participants learned leadership skills to implement their insights. Short-term feedback was generally positive. After six years the current staff reports that participants are 'leaven' in the congregation.
