- Abstract
- The project incorporates demographic and cultural analysis of the church and neighborhood, theological study of the issue of call stratification, and systems thinking to identify strategies for bridging the gap between largely middle-class church and its lower-class urban neighborhood. A learning team combining members form both sides of this divide becomes a pilot group for broader cross-cultural relational development in the congregation. In contrast to many common approaches to urban ministry, genuine integration demands intentional relationship building, for appreciation of urban cultural and for transcending the church's role of merely social service provider or evangelistic voice.
