- The author explored how clergy couples in the Central Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church theologized their callings as individuals and collectively as husband and wife. This was accomplished through the pro-active research method. The author explores the struggles in the ministry that clergy couples faced in the history of Methodism. The study also explores clergy couple struggles experienced in the itinerant system today. The author found that most clergy couples interviewed believed that their bishop and cabinet were supportive of them. The author proposes new a appointment possibilities for clergy couples. Concerns for the future of clergy couples are also discussed.
