Abstract
  • This project focuses on how the church in Jacksonville, Florida, has developed Models of Mission, which effectively confront racism and the accompanying economic disparity, by setting forth a consciousness alternative to the dominant consciousness. With the realization that the mission of the church must be both prophetic and contextual, these Models of Mission confront the evil of racism by Word and deed, thereby effecting reconciliation for those who have suffered the evil of racism. Those involved in these Models of Mission fulfill the call to serve as 'Ambassadors for Christ' as outlined in II Corinthians, 5:20. These Models of Mission could be used anywhere by Christians who seek to confront racism.
