Abstract
  • The ministry of Christian fund raising is to nurture the sacramental nature of giving. Sacramental giving grasps the promise of life through Jesus Christ, obeys the dominical imperative to lay down one's life for the sake of others, signs the promise of God in Christ to the giver, to the receiver of the gift, or to others, and brings strength, joy and blessing to the giver. The task of the Christian fund raiser is to nurture such giving. That is accomplished by approaching the fund raising task with a biblical theology of humankind and the church. Examined are John 15, the Pauline materials concerning the collection, and the Lutheran Confessions.
