- Abstract
- This project was designed to assist church leaders in transforming laity to become witnessing Christians. Lay evangelists were trained to be, do, and tell the gospel of Jesus. They served as the nucleus in the process of transforming the congregation and the broader community to become witnesses. Twenty-four men and women in the department of evangelism at Macedonia United Church of Christ in Raleigh, North Carolina, were trained through workshops, retreats, and a service of one on one witnessing. Skills and spiritual empowerment gained were used to begin the process of transforming the congregation to become evangelizing Christians.
