Abstract

This project begins with a clearly developed theology of evangelism which is shown to be consistent with scripture and the Lutheran confessions. The writer evaluates materials recommended by James Kennedy's Evangelism Explosion, Campus Crusade for Christ, American Baptists, Southern Baptists, United Methodists, and those recommended by the three major Lutheran bodies. He demonstrates that many of the materials recommended by non-Lutherans are consistent with the teachings of the confessions while some of the 'Lutheran' materials are not. The project develops an evangelism program and puts that program into practice, showing that evangelism can, in fact, be both effective and Lutheran.
