Abstract
  • This paper deals with the historical and theological development of baptism and confirmation. It begins with the New Testament church and traces the development of both sacraments up to the present day. The work of Piaget, Erikson, Kohlberg, and Fowler serve to examine the potential for Christian education in the church as it relates to the nurture of baptized children. Possible Christian education approaches are offered as a means of facilitating a proper understanding of the sacraments.
