Abstract
  • In 2011, a research project titled 'Engaging males in the worship and life of the church: a project for Piney Grove AME Zion Church' was implemented to increase male engagement. The researcher was of the opinion that a few well chosen and developed ministries would increase male engagement at the church. The project proved to the researcher that ministries used in isolation to rejuvenate males and stimulate church growth fall short of their intended goals. They sparked interested and motivated the male members for the short-term. Long-term engagement occurred only after male members became disciples of Christ.
