Abstract
  • This project deals with the problem of cham sae church members in the Korean immigrant community, persons who move easily from church to church seeking to have their needs met like a bird flitting from bush to bush (cham sae). I instituted a ministry of hospitality at the Hosanna Methodist Church designed to assimilate newcomers. The ministry of hospitality had six major components: (1) designated guides for visitors, (2) four weeks of membership classes, (3) calls and visits, (4) round table fellowship after worship, (5) the use of questionnaires (family information, small group preferences, temperament, passion for ministry), and (6) encouragement to serve.
