Abstrakt

This study seeks to discover the discernment process of hearing God's call to pastoral leadership within the formal structure of the Church of the Brethren in the United States. Using randomly sent surveys to pastors, I sought to elicit their experience of a discernment process. The survey results showed that 60% did not receive any help in discerning God's calling to pastoral leadership. The remaining 40% had received information either from their pastor or their district about the ecclesiastical ordination protocol as an aid in their discernment process.
