Abstract
  • The purpose of this project is to develop a method of planning the annual calendar in the local church. It develops that planning strategy using the following assumptions: 1) lay people in the church are equipped for leadership; 2) lay people in the church desire to be a part of the planning process; 3) when there is a broad base of involvement in the planning process, there is more involvement in the implementation of the plan; and 4) when more people are involved in planning and implementing, it is more likely that goals will be reached. The project is developed in cooperation with the Church Council members of Forest Avenue Baptist Church, Redmond, Oregon. It develops goals and objectives for the 1986-87 church year. The method of planning is adapted from that recommended by the Inter-Agency Council of the Southern Baptist Convention. The planning strategy is tested and proved to be effective.
