- Abstract
- Teaching new believers basic principles in an interesting format is a difficult task. The result is that new believers are thrust into the church without a good foundation or they become uninterested in church. The purpose of this project is to use storying with new believers and seekers. This project utilizes storying for the teaching of biblical knowledge. Storying is used among international missionaries attempting to reach people who communicate in an oral tradition. Yet those in visual and written cultures often become uninterested in the gospel when it is taken out of it's narrative context. The writer measures the students' knowledge of the stories chosen for the project. The writer then tells a Bible story each week during the project. The writer allows the students to answer questions, ask questions, and react to the story in small groups. The writer then evaluates the students' understanding of the stories based on the feedback received from the students. The writer intends that storying be used to introduce salvation and discipleship to the students. Multiplying discipleship will be measured by the students' interest in storying and willingness to tell stories.
