Abstract
  • The purpose of this dissertation is to examine the effect of training laity for ministry as church planters. The training was derived from the growth model practiced at Saddleback Community Church, as it was implemented in Toronto, Canada. The dissertation reviews literature relevant to church growth theory and strategy. It includes two data gathering surveys. These surveys measure growth prior to and after the training. The model provided good insight into training lay people for ministry as church planters. The data revealed those who finished the training class felt they had gained both theoretical and practical knowledge in church planting.
