  • The purpose of this project was to discover the extent to which a select group of lifelong Lutherans of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America understands the role of spiritual warfare in their faith lives. A survey was developed and distributed among thirty participants across five different ELCA congregations in order to develop data. The data gathered indicated that approximately half of the participants lacked a developed understanding of the work of evil and the Devil in their faith lives, including a biblical understanding. The participants' understanding of evil, the Devil, and spiritual warfare proved to be inconsistent and undeveloped.
