  • An intervention was developed and deployed with a cohort group of 15 members of the Navy Ceremonial Guard. The intervention hypothesized that combining and applying the theories of hope and purpose pedagogically and through mentoring models could resolve the undifferentiated angst in the sample group. This study concluded that a sense of hope and purpose is an effective antidote to the anger and aimlessness experienced by the members of the cohort. Further study may demonstrate more efficacy if the intervention was applied earlier and was repeated during adolescence.
