Abstrakt

The author claims that confessional preaching is an effective form of public proclamation that can move the African-American working poor against economic injustices by using the confession of their faith that Jesus Christ is Lord. This Christian shibboleth once led the early church to fight against the idolatrous claim that Caesar is Lord. The author concludes that confessional preaching, centered in the gospel of Jesus Christ, is a way to speak truth to Power about the economic injustice situation of the working poor. Instead of the minimum wage, God's justice demands a living wage for the working poor.
