Abstract
  • The purpose of the project was to equip selected men of First Baptist Church, Union, Mississippi, in servant leadership competencies. The project director designed this project utilizing the equipping model. The project began with research in the field of servant leadership, particularly focusing on servant leadership competencies as they apply in the local church context. Then, the project director identified particular competencies critical to servant leadership. The competencies and theories of servant leadership, as well as the biblical foundation of leadership as applied within the local church, were then taught to the selected men. The instruction included seven sessions that utilized a variety of teaching methods to equip the men in servant leadership competencies. The project director then evaluated and reflected on the project to discern its impact on the learners.
