  • The author's thesis is that multiple staff ministry poses widespread problems in the administration of large United Church of Christ churches. He sets forth to identify these difficulties, suggesting helps for churches, clergy, and denominational leaders in strengthening multiple-staffs. Personal interviews with ministers of 13 multiple staff churches and with five UCC denominational leaders provide the basis for the research. Helps which the author emphasizes focus on the work of the church's search committee and personnel committee, the leadership style of the senior minister, staff sharing, and the role of the denomination, including a theology for multiple-staff ministry.
