Abstrakt

The project sets forth the biblical/theological justification for shepherding in the local congregation and consists of developing 'a congregational caretaking design' within the First Baptist Church of Temperance, Michigan, for clarity of ministry. It is an effort to provide a pattern to encourage true community in the local congregation. Reading, examination of existing designs, developing and conducting an initial experiment of the caretaking design within the local church, evaluation and revisions formed the essential method of study. This research has resulted in a new sensitivity to a biblical pattern for the congregation and provides a tool to achieve it.
