Abstrakt

The author recruited 18 laity from the local church in eight weeks to receive five months of training that would allow the participants to co-facilitate support groups. He developed a liturgy to provide a guide for the nine new groups. He promoted this healing support group possibility within the local church and larger community and conducted a dedication service following the training. After observing/supporting this ministry for five months, he wrote the field project report and concluded: laity willingly respond to an intense 'hands on' ministry; folks from the church/community will gather in the safety of a church to talk through their pain issues; trust and confidentiality can happen in such groups; healing can happen in laity-led support groups.
