Abstract
  • This project addresses the substantive changes that have taken place in North American culture with the end of Christendom and the demise of modernity. It argues that one significant way in which congregations can more effectively address the realities of the post-Christian, postmodern world is to recover an understanding of their core purpose as forming disciples. Using both biblical and contemporary sources, it presents a framework for discipleship, key characteristics of disciple-forming congregations, issues of leadership, entry points into the process of becoming such a community and describes possible implications of this model for regional denominational structures and seminaries.
