- Abstract
- The purpose of this ministry project was to develop a model to increase the involvement and effectiveness of church members in personal evangelism based on mentoring relationships. Chapter two of the research project explored and established a biblical and theological basis for personal evangelism. Chapter three presents an investigation of the mentoring process and its uses in three extra-biblical settings (e.g. the relationship of Socrates and Plato). Research into mentoring relationships in the medical nursing and education professions provided examples for using mentoring relationships in a church's evangelism ministries. Chapter four described the twelve week process of equipping a selected group of members of First Baptist Church to initiate a mentoring relationship with specific emphasis on personal evangelism. Chapter five evaluated the effectiveness of the ministry and further applications for the research.
