- The pediatric oncology nurse has one of the most stressful occupations in the medical field. This project depicts the kinds of stress this type of caregiver has to endure. How is a nurse affected by the stress, and how does it affect her religious practices and beliefs? The project finds that: 1) the work forces a nurse to evaluate her religious practices of the past, to determine their relevance for the present and to act accordingly. A weak bond snaps. A strong one strengthens. And, 2) stress is not likely to alter one's level of belief.
