Abstract
  • The community of Greater Portmore is a newly developed residential community located in St. Catherine, Jamaica. It is considered a dormitory community because the majority of its residents work and study outside the community and return home for the purpose of sleep and recreation. A number of churches of various denominations are engaging in ministry to the community with varied degrees of success. This dissertation takes a critical look at important social and demographic factors within the community and against the background of biblical and theological principles, establishes a unique and workable model of ministry. This model can be adapted to churches in similar communities.
