Abstract
  • This thesis delves into the history of Haiti and the church there, and also the roots of the popular religion of voodoo. The economy of Haiti during its three five-year-plans which includes the present time of 1985 is outlined to show the tremendous amount and increase in foreign aid during these years as compared with previous years. The Methodist Church, the first Protestant group to enter Haiti, is described. They, too, are growing due to foreign aid. Haiti's economic and social development for the future depends upon the government's willingness to change and to cooperate with foreign benefactors.
