Abstract
  • What is the process, the 'how to,' of initiating and building an intentional community to provide the resource of intercessory prayer in support of the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches' worldwide evangelism, compassion/social justice ministry, and church planting efforts in the twenty-first century, as understood in the context of communion with the (whole) church's purposes today? The research design was pro-active: a qualitative case study model including text and Internet research, document review, observation, interviewing, retreat, and journaling. Other methodologies included theological study, synthesis of data, field notes and the overarching process of discernment through discussion and prayer with other participants. The result of research is the formation of the Community of Alpha and Omega, a global community for intercession, linked primarily through Internet technologies and responsive to the need and challenge for God's people to 'pray without ceasing' in support of God's kingdom purposes in the twenty-first century.
