- Abstract
- This project developed a workshop model which can be used by small groups of male clergy to explore the phenomenon of burnout. It designed and tested a thirty-six hour workshop that helped eleven participants learn: 1) ways of identifying burnout; 2) what effects burnout can have on one's spiritual and physical conditions; and 3) ways clergy can equip themselves to cope with burnout and retain their effectiveness as ministers. The project developed three instruments: a Self-Evaluation Survey on Burnout; a Fatigue Factor Survey; and a Participant's Evaluation Form. This process was successful in raising participants' consciousness about burnout. The workshop possibly could be used with larger groups.
