- Abstract
- This project is designed to address the pressing concern of adaptation of the Caribbean immigrant family to the Canadian cultural environment in the areas of unfulfilled expectations, spousal relationships, and parent-child and parent-teen relationships. The historical and sociological background of the Caribbean immigrant family was researched, and a model for addressing their needs was designed in the form of a nine-session seminar series focusing on the areas identified above. The pilot series conducted prior to the completion of the project showed convincingly that seminars such as these can make major contributions towards their adaptation process.
