Abstract
  • This study attempts to help Chinese pastors learn helpful techniques for crisis counseling. It examines a theological basis derived from process thought, pastoral psychological dynamics and the nature of crisis. Types and goals of crisis counseling are analyzed. The project explicates five processes of crisis counseling in the light of Chinese culture: 1) the establishment of a meaningful therapeutic relationship; 2) experience and awareness; 3) reinforcement of positive thinking and behavior; 4) sincere sharing; and 5) action therapy. Two case studies are presented as illustrations.
