- Abstract
- The purpose of this project was to enable First Chinese Baptist Church, Walnut, to embrace families with autistic member(s), resulting in a long-range plan for future ministry. The participants spent three months acquiring the basic knowledge of autism spectrum disorders. They spent another three months compiling the long-rage plan based on their reflections from the reading and workshops, the feedback from parents who have autistic kid(s), the responses of eighty-nine surveyees, and the insight gained from the analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats while adopting a new ministry. Evaluation was done by means of pre- and post-project questionnaires and an exit interview.
