- Abstract
- This project attempted to respond to the growth of a local congregation through the development of a paradigm of shared ministry. Mount Aery Baptist Church, a 77-year old, 1400 disciple African-American congregation, had recently experienced rapid growth. As a result, its leadership (Pastor and Officers) was often unable to adequately address the numerous congregational needs in a timely manner. Also, of great concern within the congregation was the qualifications needed to address those needs. The author asserted that if lay disciples received the appropriate training along with opportunities to apply these collaborative teachings, their ministry effectiveness and understanding would increase.
