- Abstract
- This project tests the moral development of sixty-seven full time clergy in the Church of the Brethren. It uses the Defining Issues Test designed by James Rest of the University of Minnesota as an instrument. The research finds no persons operating at post-conventional stages and 95.5 percent at the conventional stages. Average P score is 52.3. The author believes that the results would be similar in most institutions. The paper contains an overview of moral development, illustrates why clergy should attend to their own continuing development and shows ways they can invite others to develop.
