Abstract
  • This project examines the culture of a small United Methodist church, recently destroyed by a tornado, and the effect this crisis had on the pastor's leadership. Having studied the congregation's history and ethos in concert with a sister church, the aim of the project was to develop a leadership covenant with the two congregations. Working with the joint pastor-parish relations committee, a variety of instruments were used to discern an appropriate leadership style in that situation. Questions around the appointment and training of small church pastors in the United Methodist church were also made a part of the study.
