Abstract
  • The Knights of Columbus in their College Council program possess a potential vehicle for promoting the 'empowerment of the laity' in the Roman Catholic Church as a Catholic lay organization. Tracing the historical development of the Order and the charism of the founder, the project addresses the faith development and spiritual needs of the young adult male to whom the organization makes appeal through this program. In view of Vatican II's Document on the laity and the US bishops' pastoral on campus ministry, recommendations are made on how these college councils can be utilized to serve the Church effectively with its current leadership crisis.
