Abstract
  • How will the area management team of the New Jersey area of the UMC and clergy on the southwest district of the southern New Jersey Annual Conference respond to information about the Union Church of Africans founded by Peter Spencer? This study documents and is an argument for inclusion of the Spencer churches in the Methodist tradition. Part one is a historical case study of nineteenth-century music and worship in the UCA and its successors the African Methodist Protestant and the Union American Methodist Episcopal churches using primary sources. Part two is a seminary design and results.
