Abstract
  • Experiencing diverse and skilled mentor/mentee relationships is an important part of professional development for successful Army chaplains. These relationships incorporate mentors who are both military professionals and mentors who are religious leaders of integrity. Using a mixed methods approach to descriptive research, the author researched biblical and historical methods of discipleship, ministerial formation, modern research in mentoring, and surveyed chaplains about personal experiences with mentors during their early military careers. Career success and advancement often hinge on how chaplains negotiate and discover these developmental networks and relationships.
