Abstract
  • The author interviewed 17 respondents mostly from the scientific professions, and mostly articulate non-believers, and using qualitative research techniques identified common patterns in their secular world views. The author proposes that the fundamental secular belief that there is no external being called 'God' is consistent with the underlying assumptions of contemporary western culture, and must be seriously addressed by the religious community if evangelism of our culture is to be effective. The author proposes that this secular world view is a normal development in religious experience, and suggests how it can be an adequate vehicle to express religious truths.
