Abstract
  • The conviction of this thesis is that Jonathan Edwards, in his attempt to reconcile the divergent movements that originated from the Great Awakening, has much to say of benefit to the church today. This thesis begins with an historical analysis of Edwards and the Great Awakening, and then focuses on his Religious Affections, in particular the balance he sought between the divergent movements of his day. From his arguments and imagery, this thesis designs a four-week daily devotional guide, a five-week sermon series and a four-week small group Bible study to be used within the local church (either concurrently or independently) on renewal.
