Abstract
  • The author's thesis is that practicing the classical spiritual disciplines will positively influence the Christian's spiritual well-being. Subjects were pre-tested and post-tested for frequency of practice of four spiritual disciplines (solitude, meditation, study and service) and spiritual well-being (SWB) using Ellison's SWB scale. Subjects were instructed in a thirteen-week course on those disciplines. Differences on pre- and post-test scores were observed to evaluate the effect of changes in frequency of practice and SWB responses. Results were mixed: frequency of practice of two disciplines increased significantly, and some correlations between frequency of practice and SWB scores appeared .
