- Abstract
- The goal of this project is to help preachers determine their own method of application in the sermon event. The author examines the task of application from a historical, theological, and theoretical standpoint. The focus of the study is twenty-four pastors from the Evangelical Free Church of America. The author uses a content analysis approach to study the unique methods of application used by John Broadus, G Campbell Morgan, D Martyn Lloyd-Jones, and Charles Swindoll. Twelve methods of application are isolated from these four homileticians to develop a Methods of Application Self-Reporting Inventory. The results indicate that the project achieves its objective.
