Abstract

The thesis project brings us to inter-religious dialogue between the Roman Catholic tradition and the traditional Hmong veneration ritual Laig cov Laus. Using comparative theology method and ethnography, traditional Hmong culture and Roman Catholic dialogues within cosmology, anthropology, rituals, symbols, and culture calues to find connections, disconnections and lacunae within the Roman Catholic tradition, allowing for an expanded understanding withing Catholic theology and worship. The structure of the thesis-project provides anas of yet unexpressed process for intercultural dialogue in preparation for the Hmong Catholic community to develop a Hmong veneration of ancestor ritual.
