It is based upon the author's experience as a pastor and a national consultant. The project includes an analysis of the historical, sociological, biblical and theological context; the experience of one local church with two congregations; the role of the conference; the experience of the General Board of Global Ministries. It offers recommendations for local congregations and conferences and contains an extensive appendix which includes the 'Manual on Shared Facilities' published by the United Methodist Service Center.
