Abstracto

The purpose of this project was to equip a select group of Baptist leaders in interpersonal relationship skills for ministry to serve as mentors for church related vocational students involved in the Baptist Student Union at William Carey College, Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The project participants attended two six-hour training events. The first event concentrated on the role of mentoring and the second on acquiring a basic understanding of interpresonal relationship skills. The project director recruited Baptist leaders from churches in the Lamar and Lebanon Baptist Associations currently supporting the Baptist Student Union. He developed the teaching material, a fill-in-the-blank notebook, a pre-test/post-test, and a covenant response sheet. Also, each participant received a copy of Tim Elmore's Mentoring: how to invest your life in others and Jeannine Cannon Bozeman and Argile Smith's Interpersonal relationship skills for ministers.
