Abstract

The author designed a pro-active research model for ministry with older women who are grieving the loss of a husband due to death. This ministry allows the women to share life stories within a small group of their peers where they are given the freedom to express their grief without fear of embarrassment or criticism. Weekly meetings, over a 14 week period, include the study of varied subjects such as: the Bible stories of grief; writing and using a personal journal; learning about the traditions of the church; how grief is handled in other cultures, ancient and modern; as well as sharing the memories of their own marriages.
