Abstrakt

The project supports an alternative method to religious classroom teaching. The student's own community composes the new environment. The method considers these assumptions: 1. methodology needs to be consistent with its message; 2. remembrance is enlivened by experience; 3. recall is supported by sites and places; 4. meaningful teaching advances an ethic; 5. our ethic is visible in God's future kingdom; and 6. walking can support Christian learning. Five lessons and post-tests demonstrate the method. Evaluation included student responses a week after and parental response eighteen months later. Though only students were taught, parent recall was 68 percent after eighteen months.
