  • This project is designed to improve the practice of ministry and to address the quality of ministry as it is practiced in the Presbytery of Northern New York. The pastors living within the boundaries of the Presbytery of Northern New York completed a test and a questionnaire was submitted to executive presbyters in the Synod of the Northeast. The author ascertained that burn-out and stress was indeed a problem. Three specific projects were initiated for evaluation and testing. They included a retreat, pastoral supervision model and pastoral/clergy support group. The findings indicate that both the retreat and the support group seemed to be most successful and seemed to meet the needs more effectively in that they met on a regular basis and the depth of support and confidence was greater.
