Abstract
  • The complex needs of church communities necessitates a force of lay persons trained in ministry referral. Ministry referral considers community helping professionals to be partners in ministry. In this project, eight church program leaders were trained to make appropriate referrals during a twelve session training course. Training methods included resource persons, outside assignments and case studies. Evaluation was based on a pre-test and post-test unit evaluation form and an application questionnaire. Sessions were videotaped for future use. Members demonstrated a positive increase in the number of referrals and in their knowledge of community resources.
