Abstract
  • The focus of this study was to determine if members in a Disciples church would respond more favorably to peace sermons after these members first had instruction regarding the pacifist views of Disciples founder Alexander Campbell. A pre-test and post-test was administered on two representative groups of fifteen members of First Christian Church. The experimental group was given four lectures on Campbell's pacifism in addition to a series of peace sermons. The control group heard only the sermons. Statistically there was no significant difference in a change of attitude toward pacifism but there was a significant difference regarding the knowledge about the place of pacifism in Disciples tradition.
