Abstract
  • This project examined an innovative course in homiletics to determine if it effectively fulfilled its learning objectives and if it produced any significant changes in student perception of the topics that were covered. The three areas of study were: 1) 'Developing Guidelines for the Preacher's View of His Role in the Pulpit'; 2) 'An Analysis of Three Dominant Preaching Styles Found in Western Culture'; and 3) 'Alan Monroe's Motivated Sequence as a Preaching Paradigm'. This study used the quasi-experimental method of research with a randomized control group pre-test and post-test design. The treatment group improved 57.6 percent in comprehension of the course material and .865 points on the Likert scale in a favorable response to the course material.
